sayFUSE Smart Server includes a complete backup system in one device, which can be combined with an application server such as a file server or an ERP system. In connection with Microsoft Small Business Server 2008, sayFUSE Smart Server not only offers increased data security and reliable data backup, but also domain, file, exchange and SQL server services. The result is a high quality network infrastructure in a single appliance. With dimensions of just 19 inches / 4 height units, sayFUSE Smart Server is ideally suited to small offices. The IT is less complex and easier to administrate, and at the same time companies are reliably protected against system failures and data loss.
The complete solution for data backup, restoration and archiving integrates backup hardware, backup server with touch screen and backup and media management software in one system. Hard disks are used as the backup media, and there is no need for investment in additional server hardware or separate disk and tape backup systems. This saves space and reduces the complexity of data backup. Data can be saved centrally for exchange and for backup. The costs of procurement and for service and support are reduced, and the administration effort is conceivably low, as support is only required for one central device. This also reduces energy costs. If more business applications are gradually introduced, sayFUSE Smart Server can be combined with the server virtualisation solution sayFUSE VM. This ensures that companies can grow while keeping IT investment and maintenance costs low.
The backup technology is the same as for sayFUSE Backup and uses SATA or SAS hard disks for reliable backup of important business information and quick restoration after data loss. RAID-1 technology ensures system stability. The basic unit of the sayFUSE Smart Server has a memory capacity of up to 48/96 Terabytes (native/compressed). It can be increased to 96/192 Terabytes with the sayFUSE CEM capacity extensions (Capacity Extension Module).
For the network connection, 2x1GBit/s network cards are available as standard, as well as optional 10 GBit/s network cards in copper or fibre channel. Almost any backup software available on the market can be used to control the data backup jobs.
